Pilates – The Elusive Six Pack Abs
Pilates can be often seen as a girly, soft and easy option. Make no mistake whilst it is a perfect stress reliever I do have the ability to make it pure hell for you and your core. Hmmm hmm I mean ‘challenging’. After all I did do my dues in the New Zealand Defence Force and can make grown men and woman grimace, let’s face it they are never going to cry. Physical flexibility isn’t their best strength!
If you are looking for six pack abs then best you start in the kitchen and follow up with your sneakers in the closest.
Having a strong core is very different from chiseled abs. I’ve seen hundreds of men with their shirts off. For the record I would like to clarify swimming pool training, arrrghh the sacrifices one has to make for the country, and six pack are few and far between unless at the bottle store. These guys and girls are the fittest of the fittest so you need to get real about what it actually takes to get them. It takes a ridiculously low body fat percentage somewhere around ladies are you listening 16 -19% body fat and men 6-9%. To put things in perspective I have a body fat of around 19% and I’m lucky to even have 2 packs visible. Actually catching a Leprechaun would seem easier.
The good news is that Pilates can help pull off more than just the look of you not having to suck your stomach in when you stand in front of the mirror or perform denim jean aerobics when squeezing into them straight out of the dryer. Polestar Pilates can help relive back pain, muscle pain, shoulder impingement, post surgical conditions and diminish habits of over-recruitment of muscles to restore healthy movement patterns.
